Prelude
This story starts thousands of years ago, before the times of magic and war, before the times of destruction and chaos. The world known, as Kiateth was a peaceful world ruled by two kings. Both kingdoms shared resources and lived in peace until the one day, the Kings of the kingdoms of J’hndor and Ling’kin both fell in love with the same woman. The two kings began to hate the other, and during a trip into J’hndor territory the maiden died at the hands of thieves. King Ling’kin was outraged that J’hndor could allow this to happen, while King J’hndor thought that Ling’kin sent the thieves. The two kingdoms waged war on each other, no one kingdom ever stronger then the other. The kingdoms fought through hundreds of years never stopping once, no one person ever remembering why they are fighting the other, only knowing the hate they have for the other.
Chapter One: Xan
The forest of Sembos is a dark lonely place, hidden in the shadows of the outside word, cut off from society the forest lives in deep slumber. Within this deep slumber lives a man who had once fought in the hundred year war but ran away in fear and hid in the forest to hide from the death and the noise of battle. Living in peace during the day but slowly being ripped apart by his own dreams of family long since passed on. Xan would soon be driven mad if it weren’t for a walk he took in the forest one day.
Xan had finished the morning’s routine of washing, eating and listing to the latest news of the war on his radio, he had then decided to take a walk through the forest to ease his mind. This was a common thing for Xan to do. He would walk and walk until he almost lost sight of the large tree that marked his clearing and his home, but this time he kept going. For hours he walked through the thick, dark forest. He thought about his family back in J’hndor. He thought of the war, the hundred years of war that plagued this world, he thought about lucky he was to be away from it all, he thought about how he was so tyred, he thought about the dreams and the weather. He thought so much for so long that they all started to bled together into one single thought, then all thoughts where gone and the night had come.
Xan was worried; he had lost his way and did not know where home was. He started to run. No reason or direction foretold in his mind, he just ran. No one had ever wandered this deep into the forest, then again no else had known about this forest as far as he knew, he needed to find shelter for the night. He stopped, sweat drenched his skin and he could not run any further. He looked long and hard for a place to shelter him for the night, “a cave to the north” a voice told him, “its not far, hurry”. Xan headed north as fast as he could until he found the cave, an ancient looking cave. Xan entered the cave slowly, then…nothing.
Xan awoke with a start; he climbed out of his bed with a puzzled look on his face. “The dreams are getting very odd” Xan had thought to himself.
